These terms (“Terms”) cover your use of the Thippu app and thippu.com (together, the “Service”), run by GNOMON POINT PTY. LTD. (ACN 701 477 081, ABN 68 701 477 081) of Melbourne, Australia (“GnomonPoint”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By using Thippu you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

The short version: Thippu+ plans are paid once and yours for good. Purchases go through Apple or Google. Your trips are yours; please use Thippu fairly.

1. The service

Thippu is a travel planning app. Planning on your own is free. More features come with one-time Thippu+ plans (Solo, Mates and Family) and Mates Passes, as shown on the Thippu+ page in the app. You can use Thippu, and buy plans and passes, without an account; backups and shared trips need one. Every plan, free or paid, lets you have up to 3 trips on the go at a time (trips you own that haven’t ended or been archived), and there are fair-use limits on how many trips you can create.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be able to form a binding contract to use Thippu; if you’re under 18 you need a parent’s or guardian’s consent. Keep your sign-in secure — you’re responsible for what happens under your account.

3. Plans, “yours for good”, and changes

Thippu+ plans and Mates Passes are one-time purchases, not subscriptions. “Paid once, yours for good” (or “lifetime”) means for as long as we run the Thippu service. It isn’t a promise that a feature, plan or price will stay available or unchanged forever.

GnomonPoint may at any time:

  • change the price, contents or availability of any plan or Mates Pass;
  • add, change or remove features from any plan, including one you’ve already bought; and
  • stop, replace or significantly change the Service, in whole or in part.

We’ll try to tell you about significant changes in the app or on our website. A change doesn’t entitle you to a refund except where the law says so (see section 5).

4. Purchases through the App Store and Google Play

Apple or Google bill and process every purchase, under their own payment terms and refund policies as well as these Terms. We never receive your card details. You can buy without an account; the purchase then stays with this phone’s store account. Sign in to keep it on your Thippu account, and use Restore on a new phone to bring it back.

5. Refunds and your consumer rights

Refunds are usually handled through the store’s own refund process. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or changes any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) that can’t lawfully be excluded, including a refund, repair or replacement for a major failure. Where the ACL gives you a remedy, we’ll honour it.

6. Mates Passes

Mates Passes come with the Family plan, or a trip owner on Mates or Family can buy them in packs. The owner gives a pass to one guest on one trip, so that guest can edit it. The owner can take a pass back and give it to someone else, in the app. A pass can’t be sold or transferred outside the app, and isn’t refundable except where the law requires.

7. Your trips and shared trips

Your trips are yours. You give us permission to store, sync and show them only to run the Service for you and the people you share a trip with. You’re responsible for what you add and who you invite. A trip’s owner decides who can see and edit it; when the owner deletes a shared trip or their account, the trip is removed for everyone on it. See our Privacy policy for how shared trips are handled.

8. Backups and your phrase

Backups are locked with a 12-word phrase that only you have. We can’t read it, recover it or reset it for you. If you lose the phrase and your phone, we can’t bring that backup back.

9. Travel information and partner links

Thippu shows information to help you plan: travel advice, emergency numbers, weather, public holidays, time differences, exchange rates, tips, recommendations and the phrases on Show to a driver. Some of it comes from other sources (such as government travel advice and Apple Weather) and some from our own lists. We work to keep it right, but it can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and it doesn’t cover every country. Always check anything important with an official source before you rely on it: your government’s travel advice website for safety, and the local authorities for emergency numbers. In an emergency, contact local emergency services directly. Don’t rely on Thippu alone for decisions about safety, health, money or legal matters, or for time-critical reminders such as flight times. Links to partners (such as eSIM or insurance providers) take you to another business’s site, under its own terms; Thippu may earn a small commission, which never changes your price.

10. Using Thippu fairly

Don’t misuse the Service — for example by trying to disrupt it, reverse-engineer it, get into accounts that aren’t yours, or use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.

11. Intellectual property

The Thippu name, logo, app and website (but not your trips) belong to GnomonPoint and are protected by copyright, trade mark and other laws. These Terms don’t transfer any of that to you.

12. Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, GnomonPoint excludes all warranties other than those the ACL doesn’t let us exclude, and our liability for any claim about the Service is limited, at our choice, to supplying the Service again or refunding what you paid for it. This doesn’t limit liability that can’t lawfully be limited, such as for death, personal injury or fraud caused by our negligence.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, our practices or the law. We’ll change the effective date above when we do; using the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the new Terms. We’ll tell you in the app about significant changes.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You and GnomonPoint both accept the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria for any dispute about the Service.

15. General

If any part of these Terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. These Terms and our Privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and GnomonPoint about the Service.
